Occupational Epidemiology
The research unit ‘Occupational Epidemiology’ focuses on the mutual relationship between health, wellbeing and labor participation. Using an epidemiological approach, the aetiology, natural course and treatment of different health complaints and diseases in the working population are studied.
The goal of the research program is to expand the knowledge on health in relation to labor participation in order to contribute to the increased need of evidence-based (occupational) medicine. The research program aims to develop tools and strategies for prevention, treatment and socio-medical counselling of employees. In this way the research program contributes to the improvement of health, well being and labor participation of the working population and the reduction of sick leave and work disability in the Netherlands.
