Department of History

The Department of History is the locus of the Faculty’s expertise in the field of history. Our staff specialises in political, social, economic and cultural history, as well as the history of science and technology.

The department of Literature & Art is the locus of the faculty's expertise in the fields of literature history and theory, art history and theory, film and media history and theory, music and theatre studies and sociolinguistics.

The Department of Society Studies provides input for the teaching and research conducted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Our staff specialises in two fields of interdisciplinary scholarship: Science, Technology and Society studies (STS) and Globalisation, Transnationalism and Development research.

The department of Political Science provides the input of political science and public administration in the teaching and research of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Our staff has a background in political science, public administration, international relations, sociology and philosophy.

The department of Philosophy's emphasis is on four specialist areas or points of special interest: the philosophy of science, technological philosophy, the philosophy of art and culture, and political and social philosophy.
