In addition to standard master's programmes, Maastricht University offers a number of programmes for professionals. These range from Executive MBAs to training in the health professions. Most applicants are seeking post-graduate studies or have been active in the labour market for a substantial period of time. The majority of the programmes are part-time, allowing students to maintain their career while furthering their education.

UMIO, as part of the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University, offers the part-time study programme Register Controller (Executive Master of Finance and Control). The programme focuses on deepening and expanding current financial-economic knowledge that is essential for (future) controllers, financial managers, consultants, interim financials and CFOs.
Een belangrijk deel van de opleiding tot registeraccountant en registercontroller betreft het onderdeel Internal Control & Accounting Information Systems (ICAIS oftewel BIV/AO).
