INKOM 2024
From Monday 19 until Thursday 22 August students will get to know each other and the city of Maastricht. This week is about getting to know Maastricht, the city where you will meet new people and you will have to learn to find your way around again. Not just at the faculty, the library and the sports centre, but also the student and study associations and the area in and around Maastricht.
To make your transfer to the university, the faculty and the city of Maastricht as smooth as possible, we will be organising introduction days:
We also celebrate the new academic year with an event called 'Opening Academic Year'.
INKOM 2024 - from 19 until 22 August
The INKOM is the introduction week for all new students in Maastricht. Under the supervision of two senior students you will plunge in student life during the INKOM: you get to know your fellow students, the city, the academic and cultural life of Maastricht.
INKOM 2024’s theme is ‘Building Bridges’. This theme symbolises the student’s path from secondary school to university and building a bridge to a new start. Maastricht is characterised by its many bridges, such as the Sint Servaas bridge, which connects the historical city centre and the vibrant heart of the city. It also symbolises the way the INKOM connects students and residents of Maastricht with a variety of sportive and cultural activities.

Living in Sittard and studying in Maastricht, Eindhoven or even Tilburg or Leiden. A few years ago, this was hard to imagine, but nowadays it is increasingly common. Sometimes out of necessity, but often also as a conscious choice. The rise of more creative places to live outside the traditional student cities makes it more attractive for students to broaden their search for a nice place to live. PITground, behind the railway station in Sittard, is one such place.

Last year, Maastricht University further strengthened its profile in science and technology by launching a Bachelor in Computer Science. The response exceeded all expectations, with the first cohort of 300 students from all over the world starting the programme in September. “Computers and automation have incredible appeal,” says Professor Mark Winands, chair of the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences (DACS). “And that’s a good thing, because well-trained specialists are in high demand.”
