MSP exchange programme
At Maastricht Science Programme, we introduce a new approach to education in the natural sciences that is based on the Liberal Arts and Sciences tradition. Gone are the conventional disciplinary boundaries. We challenge you to create your own curriculum, chosen from a wide range of disciplines, guided by advisors and driven by your own skills, interests and ambitions.
Do you want to focus on one discipline and become an expert in that specific field or do you prefer to combine disciplines and work on multidisciplinary knowledge and skills? Everything is possible at Maastricht Science Programme.
Incoming exchange students
Maastricht Science Programme (MSP) welcomes enquiries from students who wish to study at MSP for one or two semesters as an exchange student. You are an exchange student if your home university has a formal student exchange agreement with MSP and if you are nominated for an exchange programme at MSP by the exchange coordinator of your home institution. Exchange students remain enrolled at their home institution and continue to pay tuition fees to their home institution.
Entry requirements
Exchange students should have completed at least one year at their home university at the time of participation. Exchange students may have special eligibility requirements regarding their grade point average (GPA) or progress. You can contact the International Relations Office of your home university for more information.
English language
Since English is the working language at Maastricht Science Programme, non-native speakers will have to demonstrate a proof of English language proficiency. Students with an International Baccalaureate or European baccalaureate diploma are exempted.
Exchange students whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence of English language proficiency as follows:
- TOEFL 575 (Test of English as a Foreign Language, paper-based version)
- TOEFL 232 (computer-based version)
- TOEFL 90 points (internet based version)
- IELTS (International English Testing System) test with a score of at least 6.5
- CAE (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) test score must be at least a B, whereas a C is sufficient for your CPE (Cambridge Certificate of proficiency in English).
Please contact the International Relations Office of your home university for more details.
How to apply
If you’re interested in spending a semester abroad at MSP, consult the International Relations Office (IRO) of your own university. All exchange students must be officially nominated by their home university first.
After the IRO of your home university agreed to nominate you as an outgoing exchange student for Maastricht Science Programme, your nomination must be officially announced through e-mail. Note that the email must be send by the person in charge at your home institution.
If we do not have an agreement with your university, it might be possible to set up an exchange agreement between your home university and MSP. Please check if your home university is interested and let them contact us.
For more information on the application procedure or ‘contract education’, send an email to msp-iro@maastrichtuniversity.nl. Nominations can also be send to this e-mail address.
