Epidemiology
The mission of the Department of Epidemiology of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, Maastricht University, is to improve human health and well-being through epidemiologic research and teaching. Our research and teaching aims to expand the knowledge base for evidence-based public health and medicine.

Research
Our research aims to develop, improve and validate tools and strategies for etiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care. Our research is user-relevant and multidisciplinary, and applies both observational and experimental designs.
Education
Our teaching focuses on epidemiology and epidemiological research methods, with the aim to enable students and professionals to apply scientific knowledge in their practice of public health and medicine. Moreover, the application of epidemiologic and methodological tools will enable them to actively participate in research in the domain of public health and clinical science.
