PhD coordinator CAPHRI
The PhD coordinator functions as a low-threshold contact point for PhD candidates and their supervisors. Her role is to register and introduce new PhD candidates within the School and the Faculty FHML, to ensure that each PhD candidate has a Training & Supervision Plan and Personal Research Plan, to monitor the progress of PhD projects and the quality of the supervision provided by means of the PhD TRACK system, and to provide information and support in case of questions of any kind related to PhD trajectories. These questions may vary from simple, easy-to-answer questions to complex problems of a personal nature or related to the PhD trajectory and/or the interaction between supervisor(s) and PhD candidate. The overall aim of this role is to have an overview of all - currently almost four hundred internal and external - CAPHRI PhD candidates, to inform and support them, and if possible, to help prevent delay and dropout by offering a listening ear, provide advice, or refer to someone else who can help further. Therefore, don’t hesitate to approach the PhD coordinator.
The PhD coordinator is located at the Management Office of CAPHRI and works closely together with the project managers, communications officer, managing director, and scientific director. At Faculty level, she has regular meetings with the PhD coordinators of the other six Schools and three Interfaculty Institutes in the FHML PhD Committee, HR advisors, and policy advisors. At UM level, she has contacts with the Staff Career Development Centre, Language Centre, University Library and Academic Affairs. The PhD coordinator has frequent contact with the CAPHRI PhD and postdoc representatives and supports them with their activities.
