Joint Master of Health Professions Education (JMHPE)

Since 2005 Maastricht University (UM) and SHE jointly with Suez Canal University (SCU), Egypt are offering a joint programme in Health Professionals Education. The rationale behind this joint programme is to combine the academic UM experience as a pioneering student centered learning school in Europe with the practical SCU experience as a pioneering community-oriented and problem-based learning school in the Eastern Mediterranean region. UM and SCU share similar educational strategies and the ambition to contribute to health professions education worldwide.

The programme is inspired by the Maastricht MHPE curriculum. Adapted and modified to fit the contextual learning needs. Our aim is to develop future leaders by increasing their competences in health professions education tailor to their relevant professional context.

UM and SCU were both founding members of The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH). Being both problem-based medical schools, they are quite alike in their institutional objectives, educational strategies, and training plans. Due to its geographical position in the heart of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Egypt is a suitable place for this programme.

The programme is focusing on the acquisition of knowledge and skills relevant to career development and research in health professions education. Graduates will be able to:
