Clinical Psychology
Led by Pauline Dibbets
The Clinical Psychology (CP) section conducts research into the mechanisms, manifestations, and treatment of psychopathology. Grounded in an experimental approach to clinical psychology, the section bridges fundamental laboratory studies and applied clinical work to advance scientific understanding and improve psychological treatment, across the life-span.
Studies from this section range from cognitive and behavioural experiments to assessments of therapy effectiveness. This work contributes to evidence-based interventions, enhanced diagnostics, and deeper insights into the causes and maintenance of psychological disorders. The experimental and laboratory methods vary from cognitive and behavioural experiments, to psychophysiological measures (skin conductance; heart rate; EEG), Randomised controlled trials, prospective longitudinal studies, single case experimental designs, questionnaires, and virtual reality.
