EPP staff members play a large role in the abnormal and clinical psychology parts of the bachelor curriculum of the Psychology bachelor programme. Offering a unique combination of theory and practice, you’ll learn about mental processes related to mental disorders. There is excellent collaboration with the Cognitive Neuroscience dept. making it possible to also study brain processes in mental disorders.

Includes courses on topics such as self-regulation, bad habits and manipulation. You’ll learn to analyse the underlying mechanisms of unhealthy or antisocial behaviour using recent theories and models from various psychological disciplines. You’ll also apply these theories to plan behaviour change programmes.

One of its kind in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, this programme includes topics such as lie detection, eyewitness testimonies, interrogation techniques, and false confessions. You’ll also be trained in the administration of tests frequently used by legal experts, take several field trips to different legal settings, and participate in mock criminal law cases.

A mix of theoretical and empirical knowledge, you’ll study scientific literature on real-life problems and work on projects in small tutorial groups. Includes hands-on training in forensic assessment, therapy and expert witness skills. Work in prisons, forensic psychiatric facilities, police and probation services, and in areas such as child protection and domestic violence.

Provides the theoretical background and clinical insight necessary for research in the various fields of mental health, particularly experimental psychopathology, clinical psychology and psychiatry. Students with degrees in health sciences or psychology (cognitive, biological, clinical) and sufficient statistical background are well suited to this programme.

(Dutch) In deze master doe je veel praktische vaardigheden op, omdat de theorie is gekoppeld aan praktische trainingen. Bovendien kun je een klinische stage lopen in de praktijk van de geestelijke gezondheidszorg. Zo ontwikkel je de vereiste vaardigheden op het gebied van diagnostiek, interventies en onderzoek. 2 specialisaties: psychopathologie bij volwassenen of bij kinderen en jeugdigen.
