Flow Cytometry Course
We offer a comprehensive Basic Flow Cytometry Course once or twice per year to provide hands-on training and theoretical knowledge on using flow cytometry for a variety of applications. This course is ideal for both beginners and advanced users who wish to deepen their understanding of the technology and its uses in research.
The next course will be held on 8 October 2026. It is intended for first-time users with little or no experience in flow cytometry. The course covers:
- Introduction to flow cytometry principles
- Experimental design
- Applications of flow cytometry
- Practicalities
The morning will be a theoretical course with a general introduction to flow cytometry, the latest technological advances in flow cytometry and information on the flow cytometry possibilities at Maastricht. The afternoon will involve hands-on practical sessions to learn to use the flow cytometers and to get acquainted with data acquisition, analysis, and troubleshooting. You will be able to choose between a session on our conventional flow cytometers (BD FACS Canto, DIVA software, suitable for most applications with max 8 fluorochromes) or the spectral Cytek Aurora (SpectroFlo software, specifically interesting for larger marker panels or highly autofluorescent samples). Find the full programme below.
For the hands-on sessions places are limited and will be filled on a first come-first serve basis. For the theory session, places are limited due to the capacity of the Lecture room.
