Target group
Persons that supervise or perform actions with devices or accelerators emitting ionizing radiation and/or sealed radioactive sources in scientific research or industrial applications. 
This course combines the legal courses TMS-MR devices and accelerators and TMS-MR sealed radioactive sources.

Intended learning objectives
After taking this course, the participant is able to:

  1. supervise the actions on the use of devices and accelerators emitting ionizing radiation and/or sealed radioactive sources, uphold the related legal requirements and guidelines, and offer adequate advice concerning content with regards to preventive measures, in cooperation with the radiation safety expert (RPE);
  2. contribute to adequate handling with regards to foreseeable unintentional events or imminent incidents or emergencies;
  3. actively work on their own knowledge and expertise, as well as the knowledge and expertise of the people they are responsible for;
  4. Furthermore, the participant has knowledge on competences, attitudes and skills that are specifically linked to devices and accelerators emitting ionizing radiation and sealed radioactive sources.

Course content, language, study materials and prior knowledge
This course will be offered in English. Good proficiency of the English language is required. The program consists of face-to-face education, tutorials and practical assignments, and is concluded with an examination training and exam. For further details, consult the program

Organisation
The course is organized by the Radiation Protection Unit Randwyck. The quality is being assessed and controlled by the responsible officer for radiation protection education within the Radiation Protection Unit, and the Exam Committee radiation protection education Randwyck. The organization has been formalized and written down in a procedure and exam regulations, and all conditions regarding enrollment can be found in the enrollment conditions. The Radiation Protection Unit has the right to cancel a course if there aren't enough registrations. This will be announced no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course. UM and MUMC+ have been accredited by the Dutch Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation protection (ANVS) for offering educational programs on radiation protection.
