EIPIN Innovation Society
EIPIN-Innovation Society is a comprehensive project at the forefront of multidisciplinary research, examining the role of intellectual property (IP) as a complex adaptive system in innovation. The ambition is to enhance Europe’s capacity to foster innovation-based sustainable economic growth globally. The primary research objective of the programme is to provide political leaders and stakeholders reliable conclusions and recommendations in the form of IP research on how to deal with the adaptive complexities of innovation cycles that secure economic benefits and uphold justice in the innovation society.

Ius Commune Research School
The Ius Commune Research School is a cooperation between the Law Faculties of Maastricht University, Catholic University Leuven, Utrecht University and University of Amsterdam that dates back to 1995.
The School brings together some 230 researchers and 130 PhD candidates engaged in various research programmes supported by the School. They study and compare national public and private legal systems, the extent to which international and European integration processes dependent upon harmonisation of law (ius commune) as well as effects of such integration on harmonisation of law and on the specific character of national legal cultures and legal systems. Each year this research is presented and discussed at an annual conference organized by one of the participating universities, with the next one taking place in Amsterdam on 29 and 30 November 2018.
The Ius Commune Research School also provides a training programme for PhD candidates admitted to the School.
World Trade Institute
The World Trade Institute (WTI) in Berne is a leading academic institution dedicated to teaching and research in international trade and investment regulation, economic globalisation and sustainability. Under the leadership of IGIR felllow Professor Peter Van den Bossche, currently Director of Studies at the WTI, IGIR will engage in joint projects with the WTI in the areas of research and training.
IP Annual Congress
Once per year, students from the IP master programmes of the three universities Maastricht University, Queen Mary University of London and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid meet for one day to discuss the most recent IP developments in Europe. Experts in various fields of IP present important changes in the law or future outlooks. Students have a chance to ask questions, join the discussion and build a network of like-minded IP scholars.
Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management training in Macau & HongKong
In cooperation with the Institute for European Studies of Macau, Maastricht University IPKM has been organizing every year a two-day seminar on a wide range of topical Intellectual Property Law issues since the year 2000. The seminars have attracted to Macau some of the best experts in the field and the papers presented there have been published in book-form by Kluwer and Hart Publishing. IP Master Classes offer the opportunity to learn from internationally renowned expert speakers in the IP seminar about a particular sub- discipline of intellectual property law. Classes are offered in an intensive Socratic format and include the opportunity to argue mock trials. The cours is taught by Prof. Anselm Kamperman Sanders (UM) and invited speakers.

Dutch Alliance for Artificial Intelligence
IGIR belongs to the first group of endorsers of ALLAI, the Dutch Alliance for Artificial Intelligence. Within the framework of this collaboration, IGIR will engage in projects and activities concerning the international legal implications of AI.
European Intellectual Property Institutes Network
The Advanced Master Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management is one of the five Members of the European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN). Together with four leading educational institutions, we organize two international conferences per year in order to facilitate contacts and increase cooperation among intellectual property institutions and students in Europe. Since 1999, EIPIN aims to expose students to top-quality research and outstanding international experts.
The EU-China Relationship in a Rules-Based Multilateral Investment System
This Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project examines both bilateral and multilateral dimensions of investment policy in EU-China relations. The investigation is taking place within the framework of bilateral negotiations of the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment that serves as a case study for developing a multilateral investment policy approach. The project is carried out by the METRO institute of the University of Maastricht, with involvement of an IGIR fellow and in cooperation with leading researchers from Wuhan University (WHU) and East China University of Science and Technology.
