The Mathematics Centre Maastricht currently consists of two core departments, which are both active in research and education.
In addition, MCM is open to mathematicians across the breadth of Maastricht University.

The department’s research spans the areas of Economic Theory, Actuarial Science, Econometrics and Operations Research. QE consists of three research groups:
- Econometrics
- Operations research
- Mathematical economics and Game theory.
