Academic seminars at AIM

The Maastricht Accounting, Auditing & Information Management Research Center (MARC) seminars are organised by the Department of Accounting and Information Management. It is a long-standing tradition that we invite renowned speakers from all over the world to present and discuss their latest research in (bi)-weekly seminars. In this way, we stay up to date about topical issues like earnings management, the design of effective information systems, or the best way to motivate employees. In addition, our own department members get the chance to present their work in progress during the seminar series, which often results in lively discussions.

Prior to the seminar, each paper is reviewed and discussed by the AIM PhD students and an expert faculty member as part of the PhD training. This supports them in growing into their academic responsibilities such as discussing papers at conferences or writing peer-reviews for journal publications. Moreover, the interaction with seminar guests enables our PhDs to start building a network, very often resulting in research visits at other business schools such as Duke’s Fuqua School of Business or the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
