Admissions

Each year, a limited number of students is admitted to the Master's Honours Research Track; only students enrolled at the Faculty of Law can apply. Students are selected on the basis of their motivation, their research interest and above-average grades. You can apply for the programme by submitting:

your CV
a letter of motivation
your academic transcript (incl. period 1 grades) and
an example of your legal writing (in English, for instance a paper or thesis written at the bachelor’s stage).

Students enrolled in the two-year master’s programme in International Laws can also take part in the Honours programme. They can spend their third semester abroad taking courses relevant to their research.

Applications have to be submitted no later than Friday 21 November 2025, 23.59 via email to law-mhrt@maastrichtuniversity.nl. After a selection based on the submitted documents, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a selection interview, which will take place on Thursday 11 December 2025, 10.00 - 17.00.
