As we reflect on the success of the UM Star Lectures held across 12 different cities simultaneously, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the esteemed professors who contributed their expertise and insights to make this event possible. The diverse range of topics covered during these lectures provided attendees with invaluable knowledge and perspectives on different issues. 

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

One theme stood out prominently: Artificial Intelligence (AI). Throughout the evening, five brilliant minds took the stage, each presenting a captivating narrative of AI's transformative potential. Prof. Dr. Mark Levels, in Amsterdam, delved into AI's impact on the future of work, sparking lively discussions on its societal implications. Meanwhile, in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Carla Haelermans explored AI's role in education, advocating for inclusive strategies to bridge divides.

In Frankfurt, Prof. Dr. Sally Wyatt explored the unseen aspects of AI's influence, shedding light on its mysterious depths, while Prof. Dr. Ir. Andre Dekker, in London, envisioned AI's application in revolutionizing healthcare, offering a glimpse into a future where technology transforms lives. And last but not least, Prof. Dr. Gijs van Dijck in Munich, who examined the feasibility and ethical implications of using AI as a judicial tool, providing insights into the intersection of law and technology.

Mental health

Amidst the buzz of AI, other themes were also discussed, each presenting its own narrative of discovery and insight. Mental health took centre stage. In Maastricht, Prof. Dr. Rob Markus delved into the intricate interplay between stress, genes, and well-being, while in Cologne, Prof. Dr. Ute Hülsheger shed light on the delicate balance needed in the workplace. 

Prof. Dr. Angelique de Rijk joined the conversation in the Hague, presenting her topic 'Preventing burnout? Take a trampoline!' where she shared insights on maintaining resilience and preventing burnout in the workplace. In Zurich, Prof. Dr. Edward Huizenga imparted wisdom on navigating change effectively, emphasizing the importance of strategy, behaviour, and communication.

Legal and societal issues

Legal and societal issues found their voice too during these Star Lectures. Next to the lecture form Prof. Dr. Gijs van Dijck (about AI as a judicial tool), there was Prof. Dr. Thomas Conzelmann in Brussels who navigated the complexities of legal reform, offering hope in uncertain times. 

Consumer behaviour and nutrition

And let's not forget the intriguing discussions on consumer behaviour and nutrition. In Dusseldorf, Prof. Dr. Caroline Goukens peeled back the layers of human decision-making, revealing the hidden forces that shape our choices, while in Eindhoven, Prof. Dr. Remco Havermans debunked myths surrounding food addiction, paving the way for a healthier, more informed future.
