    The Maastricht Consulates Prize on EU Law 2023

    The Consul Association has jointly decided to award a prize (value: 1000 euro) for the best master thesis in the field of EU law, written at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University during the academic year 2022/2023. Seven of the 12 Dutch provinces border a neighbouring country. Cross-border cooperation and special attention for border regions is therefore extra important. According to Eurostat's definition, the entire province of Limburg qualifies as a border region.

    Doctrine, documents, data – this is the trinity which Anna Beckers will analyse in her ERC-funded project CHAINLAW. The project will lay the foundation for developing a regulatory framework in response to the socio-economic institutions that make up global value chains. Her holistic approach will consider the role of trading practices, contract terms, and the involved networks of auditors and certifiers, as well as transnational legal structures and interventions from states.
