M.D. Pang

Michelle Pang is employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Health Services Research. In 2024, she obtained her PhD at the Department of Human Biology where she investigated the prolonged effects of sweeteners and sweetness enhancers on health, obesity and safety, with a specific focus on insulin resistance, lipid metabolism, ectopic fat accumulation, and gut microbiota. Her research was carried out in an in vivo clinical setting. Extending her focus from clinical research to implementation in clinical practice, Michelle is now conducting research to improve appropriate care across different healthcare sectors. Her work aims to reduce involuntary treatment, challenging behavior, and pain in people living with dementia, as well as minimize unnecessary nursing interventions. She received her BSc in Health Sciences at Maastricht University in 2017 and completed her MSc in Biomedical Sciences with the specialization in Nutrition, Physical activity, and Metabolism in 2019.
