Master of Health Professions Education NYU School of Medicine
The Department of Medicine of the NYU Langone Medical Center is among the longest established in the U.S. and is the largest academic department in the NYU School of Medicine. It supports and oversees 10 subspecialty divisions and numerous programs and centers in its three-pronged mission of education, research and clinical care. We train medical students, residents and fellows in Internal Medicine and its subspecialties, with emphasis on the care of patients and on clinical investigation. The Department is recognized for its high standards of education, pioneering research, and superior clinical care, as well as its grounding in the humanities. Programme
The Master of Health Professions Education Program (MHPE) from the School of Health Professions Education Maastricht University (the Netherlands) delivered partly at NYU.
The MHPE-NYU is a 2-year, half-time programme that is mostly online distance-based, but includes two 3-week campus-based courses (one per year) and thesis supervision/mentorship offered by local experts in the field.
Degree
This two-year, internationally recognised, specialisation course will lead to a research-based Master of Science degree from Maastricht University.

Student profile
The MHPE-NYU programme is open to students who have acquired a university degree in one of the health professions (e.g., health sciences, medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, dentistry, pharmacy, speech therapy).
- Faculty or fellows on track to become leaders in the field of health professions education and research such as program, course or curriculum administrators, heads of departments, deans of medical schools.
- The program is open to all faculty or fellows from any NYU Schools and Colleges.
- A competitive admissions process will be run each fall.
Program expectations
- Fulfill all requirements for a Maastricht University Master of Health Professions Degree
- Obtain support from the Department Chair agreeing to release time: a minimum of 20% FTE (e.g., ½ per week scheduled activities and ½ day research activities) and a 3 week intensive block each year for 2 years

- Statement of Intent (max. 2 pages)
- Current CV
- Letter of Support (max. 2 pages) from department or programme chair outlining support for protected time
- Description of an Educational Problem or Issue that interests the applicant (max. 1 page)
