Dr Peter Joris (P.J.)

Dr. Peter J. JORIS obtained a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences in Belgium (Hasselt University). He successfully defended in 2016 his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Vascular function and metabolic health in humans: Effects of diet and weight loss” at Maastricht University (the Netherlands). During his Ph.D. research, he also worked as a Visiting Graduate Student at the Center for Functional MRI at the University of California, San Diego (United States).

As an Associate Professor at the Physiology of Human Nutrition (PHuN) research group at the Department of Nutrition and Movement Sciences (Maastricht University), he is now involved in both education and human research. He is mainly interested in the effects of novel lifestyle and dietary approaches on vascular function and metabolic health in the periphery as well as in the brain, and cognitive / functional endpoints.
