The upcoming MCEL-seminar will take place on 19 April (15.00 16.30). It will be a 'case law seminar'. Assistant Professor Nicola Gundt and Anne Pieter Vander Mei will present some of the most interesting recent rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union to be followed with a discussion by the participants.

The next MCEL PhD Forum will take place on 13 April 2016 from 12 - 13:30h in room B0.118. PhD researcher Jens Hillebrand-Pohl will deliver a presentation on the European law aspects of his PhD on 'Financial transaction taxes and the right of free transfer and convertibility under international investment law'.

In the upcoming MCEL Seminar we welcome Gillian More, Adviser at the Task Force for Strategic Issues related to the UK Referendum, European Commission to give a presentation on 'The Decision on a New Settlement for the UK within the EU', upon which Professor Bruno de Witte will act as discussant focusing on the legal form of the settlement.  

The speaker Andrea Broderick will present the main findings of her recently defended PhD entitled 'The long and winding road to equality and inclusion for persons with disabilities : the United Nations convention on the rights of persons with disabilities'.

On Tuesday 8 March 2016, MCEL and CERiM will host a TARN lecture by Deputy Director of Europol Oldřich Martinů on ‘The role of Europol in the refugee crisis’.

n upcoming MCEL Seminar, the Head of Data Protection at Eurojust, Ms Diana Alonsa Blas will discuss data protection at Eurojust in the presentation entitled ´Processing and Protection of Personal Data at Eurojust after Lisbon: Is the New Legal Framework for Better or for Worse?´

The next MCEL PhD Forum will take place on 17 February 2016 from 9:00-10:30h in room C0.302. PhD researcher Matteo Bonelli will deliver a presentation entitled 'The Commission and the rule of law in Poland: dialogue or conflict?'.

Chris Backes, MCEL member, will be leaving our Faculty as from February 1st. A mini-symposium is organised on February 17 to add luster to his farewell.
