Containers have emerged in the Cloud and made it possible to utilize hardware infrastructure in the most flexible and efficient way. Containers make it possible to run whole application stacks from a single configuration file. The Institute of Data Science is already making use of this container infrastructure and we would like to share our knowledge.

The workshop takes place in the context of the current rise of economic nationalism and unilateralism in trade, which signals an erosion of trust in international trade and the rules that govern it. Trust in the international economic law regime is crucial for stakeholders (such as states, traders and civil society) to be willing to accept the risks inherent in international economic relations and engage collaboratively in the field of trade. This trust is under pressure, as is evident from Brexit and the Trump administrations’ unilateral trade policies. The erosion of trust creates challenges for law making, law reform, and the implementation and enforcement of law governing international economic relations.

On January 26th, the UM Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will host the Kapuscinski Development Lecture. The lecture ‘Youth in Movement: Waithood, Migration and the Peripheries’ at FASoS will be given by Professor Alcinda Honwana, Inter-Regional Adviser on social development policy at the United Nations Department of Social and Economic Affairs and visiting professor of Anthropology and International Development at the Open University in the UK

Technology is one of the main factors challenging the 21st century job market. With a new wave of automatization just around the corner, one of the main questions a lot of professions will have in common is: what can professionals do, that machines cannot? One of the answers to this question relates to the increased attention given at international level to soft skills in education. These skills include empathy, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity, to mention a few.
