Update #15: cyber attack UM
We are still working hard to get all affected computer systems operational again, giving priority to the most important central systems. Because safety is paramount, this happens step by step. We hope for everyone's understanding when things still don't work as before.
Have you changed your password?
We urge everyone to change their password as a matter of urgency. Students can log in to the Student Portal. Employees can log in to the UM intranet. You will then be asked automatically to change your password. Please note: do not opt for the "password recovery" option!
Forgotten your current password?
If you have forgotten your current password, at this moment you cannot set a new password from home. That is only possible within the UM network and with help from the help desk, where you must be able to identify yourself. At the University Library people are available who can help you change your password. As of January 6 you can go to your own faculty or unit for help by changing your password. If you are unable to come by in person, check the FAQ about the procedure to follow.
Restore local files on the central network server
The UM network has special, highly protected "file sharing" network drives in place, such as the J drive, for storing data files. Please note that the initial letter may be different for each university department or unit. These drives are fully accessible again from Tuesday 7 January 8:00; files can be opened, viewed, edited, saved and overwritten as usual, but only through a wired connection within the university (not Wifi).
Now all file servers are functioning normally again, make sure you upload your edited files back to the server and delete all local copies.
Information desks and mailboxes for students and staff
Students who have questions that are not answered in the FAQ and that are not study-related, can send an email to info[at]m-u[dot]nl. Study related questions can be sent to your own faculty, via the mailboxes below.
Staff members can address their units with their questions.
