In the Belastingplan 2019 (Dutch Tax Plan 2019) Amendment Memorandum, the State Secretary for Finance announced that the reduction of the 30% ruling from 8 to 5 years will be granted a transitional period after all. The new duration of the ruling depends on the current end date.

Last Saturday, 13 October, we welcomed almost 3100 prospective students and their parents or guardians who wanted to find out more about Maastricht University. While mostly Dutch, our visitors had more than 56 different nationalities.  

From 10 to 15 September 2018, the cross-border and multidisciplinary Euregio Summer School in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion was organised for the first time. 45 students from higher education institutions and representatives from knowledge institutes in the Euroregion came together with one goal: to develop visions of the future on the theme 'Improving inclusive Mobility in the Digital Age' in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion.

Amrapali Zaveri, postdoc at IDS,  was part of a panel on “Increasing Scientific Productivity through Artificial Intelligence” of the EuroScience Open Forum conference.

During his meetings, deputy Van den Akker indicated that he would like to establish more cooperation between North Rhine-Westphalia and Limburg in the future.

And the winners are...

During the annual Dies Natalis of Maastricht University 2018, four FASoS students received a prize for their bachelor’s/master’s thesis.

The results are in! In 2017 an International Review Committee evaluated the research in Psychology at nine Dutch universities. On 19 September 2017 it was the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience’s (FPN) turn to be reviewed according to the Standard Evaluation Protocol 2015-2021 (adopted by KNAW, VSNU, and NWO).

Martin Unfried, 'Ontgrenzer' at the Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross-border cooperation and Mobility / ITEM was interviewed by Julian Binn German-Dutch media site 'AHA24x7' about his view on cross-border labour and his job as 'ontgrenzer'.

On 9 December 2016, leading politicians, scholars and interested parties followed the invitation of the municipality of Maastricht to attend the 25th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty.
