METRO Director Prof. Dr. Michael G. Faure will due to his retirement give a farewell lecture on Friday 4 April 2025 at 16.00. The title of this lecture is 'The Price of Meat'.

The Rachel and Alan Wyatt STS Scholarship has been established to support students wishing to pursue a master’s degree in Science and Technology Studies (STS). On 10 February, Prof Mark Sanders will discuss "The economics of Sustainability and Resilience" in a lecture organised by Studium Generale Maastricht University.

How can we achieve it, and how should we change the management of our economy for a transition? This lecture will zoom in on the role of entrepreneurship and the financial sector in hindering or helping the transition to a more sustainable and resilient economy.

During the 49th Dies Natalis, we had the honour of awarding an honorary doctorate to Professor Katrin Amunts. As a leading neuroscientist, her groundbreaking research on the structure and function of the human brain has made an invaluable contribution to science. 

Maastricht University takes great pride in the inspiring initiatives and dedicated staff who shape and strengthen our education. Each year, we present the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize to those who make an exceptional contribution to educational innovation and development. In addition to the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize, the annual Dissertation Prize was also awarded. The winners of 2024 are Oscar van den Wijngaard and Giulia Giardi.
