Royal honour for Prof. Dr. Harry Schouten
On Wednesday, 29 May, Prof. Dr. Harry Schouten was given the royal distinction of Officer in the Order or Orange Nassau. Schouten was presented with the honour by Jim Janssen, deputy mayor and alderman of the municipality of Maastricht.
Schouten was given the distinction for his great dedication to hematological care in the region, province and the Netherlands, specifically for elderly people with cancer. Both nationally and internationally, Schouten played an important role in the development of stem cell transplantation. An enthusiastic physician, trainer and researcher with enormous significance for the development of the field Hematology.
