How does art reflect our community? How does our community express itself through art? Barbara Strating is the new curator of the Arts and Heritage Commission at Maastricht University. She succeeds Mieke Derickx, who is retiring after more than two decades in the role. Here they discuss curiosity and wonder, Patient Zero and art as a meditation on our collective memory.

On 14 June 2022, Radboud University in Nijmegen and Maastricht University signed a collaboration agreement for both education and research.

Like a number of other universities in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the world, UM has its own Open Science Community (OSCM), a bottom-up organisation supported by ten volunteers, including seven ambassadors within the faculties. The Open Initiatives Trophies give recognition to teams or individuals who have made efforts to promote Open Science with their peers and in their local communities in the Netherlands. Egon Willighagen – assistant professor at NUTRIM – received a trophy and 250 euros as one of the runner ups.

The Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), the Dutch Federation of University Medical Centers (NFU), the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and Elsevier announced that they have entered into a national agreement. Maastricht University and MUMC+ participate in this contract that runs until  2025.
