Every year students from the Sustainability Science, Policy & Society Master work on projects from regional partners. The project is held over the course of eight weeks. The students analyse a sustainability problem, collect data, formulate and evaluate potential solutions, and report their findings to their clients. This year, an impressive 26 regional clients with sustainability challenges worked together with our students on a wide range of challenging subjects ranging from water management, co-creation and housing to solar parks, community energy, and circular waste-management.

We have been conducting these projects since 2011 and have a long history of satisfied clients who worked with our students. Through the use of integrative methods our students can provide clear, well supported advice for regional sustainability challenges. This takes the guesswork out of decisions for the sustainability problems. Experience has shown us that oftentimes the students can find creative and surprising new opportunities to tackle stubborn problems, clearly explaining lessons learned based on factual data.

The project finale was held at Tapijnkazerne with a large networking event. During the day, regional partners visited the campus, the students presented their findings in front of the audience and with poster presentations.

In the afternoon there was a networking lunch where students, clients, and staff could build relations for future collaboration on sustainability projects within the region.
