Bottlenecks and Suggested Solutions – Recognition of Qualifications
When professionals and students move to other countries to either work or study there, they may need recognition of their qualifications. Different instruments and procedures exist depending on the purpose of mobility. Despite the fact that such instruments mainly aim at facilitating mobility, bottlenecks may nonetheless arise in practice.
The recognition of qualifications is characterised by pluriformity. The topic concerns a myriad of education and training programmes, professions, competent authorities, and citizens. This multitude is represented in the bottlenecks that present themselves when qualifications are recognised in the EU. The list below briefly sets out some exemplary bottlenecks including suggested solutions related to the recognition of qualifications following from ITEM’s casuistry and research.
