Mariken Lenaerts (M.F.)

Mariken Lenaerts (1981) is Assistant Professor at the Department of Foundations of Law. Her expertise includes legal history, legal philosophy and family law. Her current research focuses on the possible implementation of permaculture ethics into law.

Career history

Dr Mariken Lenaerts LL.M. (1981) studied Dutch Law, VTR (specialisation) Metajuridica at Maastricht University (2004). In 2012 she defended her dissertation titled National Socialist Family Law. The influence of National Socialism on marriage and divorce law in Germany and the Netherlands. In October 2013 her dissertation was awarded the Prix Fondation Auschwitz - Jacques Rozenberg. In December 2017 her book Onconventionele Juristen. Vijfendertig jaar Rechtsgeleerdheid in Maastricht, an Anniversary Book on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the faculty, was published. Her current research focuses on the possible implementation of permaculture ethics into law. Mariken taught a wide variety of courses in the past. She currently teaches mainly in the field of legal history, legal philosophy and welfare economics.
