Hengyi Yang (H.)
Hengyi Yang is a PhD researcher at the EU Horizon project Reignite Multilateralism via Technology (REMIT) coordinated by Maastricht University, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Roberta Haar and Dr. Catherine Lo.
His research interests include China’s grand strategy & tech policy, computational social sciences, and critical security studies. He is particularly interested in questions related to (1) China’s grand strategies and its domestic coalitions; (2) China’s narratives and discourses related to its global rise; and (3) rising anxiety in international relations.
Before joining UM, Hengyi lived in Barcelona for two years during his research master's study at Institut Barcelona d'Estudies Internacionals. He received his bachelor's degree in Diplomacy at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. He also co-established the Saint Pierre Center for International Security (SPCIS), which is an independent social think tank focusing on global non-traditional security based in Guangzhou, China.
