"Towards tailoring care in the gynaecology for women with bleeding disorders’"
The aim of the research is to create more attention for women with clotting problems in gynaecology in various ways. The studies carried out indicate that women with a clotting problem are more likely to have a uterus removal, where a minimally invasive procedure such as endometrial ablation could also have been useful. It is valuable to first ask for a clotting anamnesis before starting any treatment due to heavy periods in (young) women in combination with the structured questionnaire to be completed by the patient, such as the Self-bleeding assessment tool (self-BAT). In the event of an abnormal score, which depends on age, additional laboratory tests can be used. The socio-economic impact of unrecognized coagulation problems is great for many women. It still turns out to be difficult to talk about this complex problem both privately and in the workplace, especially because language and interpretation can be very different from everyone's perspective. The use of a site-specific art as a 'third eye' in combination with a method such as narrative medicine is experienced by healthcare providers and patients as a pleasant discovery and makes it easier to talk to each other about taboo subjects.
