“Osteoarthritis: association with diabetes mellitus, and treatment-related outcomes”
Keywords: arthrosis, diabetes mellitus, obesity
Arthrosis is one of the most common diseases worldwide. For many years, obesity has been regarded as the most important risk factor for knee and hip arthrosis. However, recent studies suggest that diabetes mellitus, also called diabetes, is an independent risk factor for arthrosis. Although the studies described in this dissertation suggest that diabetes is not an independent risk factor for knee and hip arthrosis, other forms of arthrosis may be affected by diabetes. In addition, our results show that the incidence of arthrosis is rising, and that there is a growing medical and social demand for new effective treatments for this disease.
