Dr Daniëlle Verstegen (D.M.L.)
Daniëlle M. L. Verstegen is Associate Professor, SHE Educates Leader and member of the SHE management team. She studied Cognitive Science (Radboud University Nijmegen, 1992) and holds a PhD in Instructional Science (Utrecht University, 2004). Her expertise lies in instructional design and innovation in student-centred learning, onsite and online. She focuses on the relation between instructional design and context, adapting to learning needs, stakeholder perceptions and local conditions. Daniëlle Verstegen is director of the Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) and involved in national and international research projects on, for example, palliative care education for undergraduate curricula, education about guideline development for healthcare professionals, and (interprofessional) education about patient safety and team resilience.

Career history
Daniëlle Verstegen studied Cognitive Science (Radboud University Nijmegen, 1992) and has a PhD in Educational Sciences (Utrecht University, 2004). From 1994 to 2005 she worked for TNO, a Dutch research institute, combining research and advisory work in instructional design projects involving e-learning, simulations and simulators. Between 2005 and 2008 she worked at RISBO (Erasmus University Rotterdam) in research projects for vocational schools. Daniëlle Verstegen joined the FHML Department of Educational Research and Development at Maastricht University in 2008.
