Alan Bince Jacob (A.B.)

Alan Bince Jacob is a Ph.D. candidate working at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Maastricht University. He works on an NWO (Dutch Research Council)-funded project focusing on gait impairments in Parkinson's Disease supervised by Dr. Tjeerd Boonstra, Prof. Sonja Kotz, and Dr. Melvyn Roerdink. At UM, his main goal will be developing new methods to assess gait and optimize cueing by combining computational neuroscience and kinesiology. His main interests lie in electroencephalography (EEG), mobile brain-body imaging, finite element methods, and computational modelling.

Before coming to the Netherlands, Alan did his master's degree in Medical Image Computing at University College London and completed his MSc research thesis under the mentorship of Prof. Vladimir Litvak on segmented deep brain stimulation leads and the motivation to pursue movement neuroscience research started from here. Before pivoting his career into research, Alan was a biomedical engineer who worked as a software analyst for a brief period at a multinational consulting company.
