Yf Reykers (Y.)

Yf Reykers is Associate Professor of International Relations at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. He is also Programme Director of the Research Master European Studies and Co-Editor of the journal Contemporary Security Policy. 

His research focuses on European security and defence, with particular attention to ad hoc coalitions and new forms of defence cooperation. His current research examines the emergence, organisation and strategic use of coalition-based forms of cooperation in European and international security.

His work has appeared in leading journals, including Cooperation and Conflict, Contemporary Security Policy, European Security, International Affairs, International Peacekeeping, Journal of European Integration, Journal of European Public Policy, Parliamentary Affairs and Third World Quarterly. He is co-editor of the volume ‘Multinational Rapid Response Mechanisms: From Institutional Proliferation to Institutional Exploitation’ (2019, Routledge Global Institutions Series).

Yf received his PhD from KU Leuven. He has been a visiting scholar at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute, the Center on International Cooperation at New York University, and Aarhus University.
