Promoting student engagement

  • Provide clear information and communication. Make sure your students understand the purpose (ILO’), assessment and learning formats of your course.  Use Canvas to structure the information for and communication with and between your students.
  • No more riddles. Use PBL tasks or other assignments as starting points for short term ‘project’ work in the context of the bigger picture of the course (the ILO’s). You can often use existing PBL tasks, yet provide or explicitly discuss their relevance: “we read this because…” or: “why are we reading this?”.
