K. Meshkat

Kiana is a PhD student in the Department of Human Biology at the Maastricht University Medical Centre+ (MUMC+), under the supervision of Prof. Ellen Blaak and Dr. Ruth Meex. Her research focuses on investigating the inter-organ crosstalk between muscle and liver in overweight individuals.

In addition to her doctoral studies, Kiana holds a master's degree in cell and molecular biology, where she conducted research on the association between an SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) in the stem of microRNA-146a and breast cancer. Her work resulted in the publication of two ISI articles. She has also gained valuable experience working in both the diagnostic laboratory and the operating room, and is well-versed in a range of molecular techniques.

Kiana is dedicated to self-improvement and maintains a strong focus on both her physical and spiritual well-being. She places great importance on leading a healthy lifestyle and regularly engages in exercise to maintain her fitness levels.
