Growers will be able to measure vitamins in the greenhouse
As a vegetable or fruit grower, measure how many vitamins are in your products? That is still in the future, but in the Food Screening EMR project companies and knowledge institutes are working on a device that will make this possible. Initially they are focusing on vitamins C and B11 in cucumber and asparagus to get an idea of the possibilities.
The reason for this was a question from BASF Vegetable Seeds at Maastricht University (UM) about the possibilities of using sensor technology to determine the content of vegetables or fruit, says Bart van Grinsven, senior lecturer in Sensor Engineering
