ELMC - Regional finals hosted by Maastricht

On the 28th until 31st of January Maastricht University hosted one of the regional finals of the European Law Moot Court competition.

Twelve teams from all over Europe and beyond came to Maastricht in order to compete for a chance to plead in Luxembourg before the Court of Justice in the all-European finals. During two intensive days (on the 29th and 30th of January), these teams battled it out before a panel of expert judges on issues relating to state liability under EU law for (perceived) human rights violations. Whereas the winner cannot be announced publicly in order to preserve anonymity until the finals, overall this regional final, including a goodbye party at Château Neercanne with some 100+ participants, was an excellent example of the official ELMC motto of ‘moot, meet and compete’.

As Master of the Moot, I would also like to thank all those who made this Regional Final a success: dean prof. dr. Hildegard Schneider, Silvia Workum, Andrea Rigamonti and Lucka Bücken, the many student volunteers, the ELMC Society and the ELMC Organising Team. A final round of thanks go to our sponsors the Limburg University Fund SWOL as well as Paulussen advocaten.
