Zijn hele werkzame leven zet hij zich al in voor ouderen. Eerst als verpleegkundige, tegenwoordig als professor, adviseur en onderzoeker. Hij stond aan de wieg van de Academische Werkplaats Ouderenzorg Zuid-Limburg waarin praktijk en theorie elkaar vinden. Praten, luisteren en verbinden. Dat is de basis van alles.
