Matt Commers (M.J.)
Dr. Matt Commers is Associate Professor and Director of Maastricht University's Bachelor of European Public Health (BEPH) Programme. He is also Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in the USA.
He received his PhD from Maastricht University in May of 2001 for his research focusing on the role of the Dutch public in health policy formulation. He holds a Master’s degree in International Business from Maastricht University and a Master’s degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
From 2001-2006, Commers dedicated five years full-time to building Commers Health Consulting, securing international clients for the consultancy such as the Dutch Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health of Japan, and Plan International. From 2006-2009, he worked in business development and government relations for Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
He joined the Department of International Health at Maastricht University in 2010.
