Workshop Human capital and regional Development
On June 16th and 17th, 2017 the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) at Maastricht University organised a workshop devoted to the topic of Human capital and regional development. This mini-conference was organised in collaboration with Neimed, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, the Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross border cooperation and Mobility, SWOL and the Province of Limburg.
The past year the workshop ‘Human Capital and Regional Development’ took place in Maastricht. Presentation were given by a selection of national and international researchers about stimulating regional developments by investments in human capital. Human capital is everything we learn by going to school, taking part in courses, but also by informal learning with colleagues or on the job in the workplace. With this, the related term 'social capital' came into play, which involves the connection between people and the trust that is necessary to take on joint activities. The results of the workshop have been summarized for policy makers in a Factsheet (Dutch).
