"Driving Innovation in Radiotherapy with implementation science"
This thesis explores how innovations in radiotherapy (RT) can be implemented more effectively to improve patient care. Innovations such as new technologies and treatments often take too long to be applied in clinical practice, which delays their benefits for patients. To address this, the research introduces tools to help healthcare professionals better predict the success of innovation projects and offers a structured approach for their implementation. One key contribution is a prediction model that helps RT teams anticipate challenges before they arise. Another is an implementation protocol that guides professionals in adopting innovations like artificial intelligence in a timely and effective manner. The research also emphasizes the importance of leadership and organizational structure in fostering innovation. By providing insights into how to better manage innovation processes, this thesis aims to improve healthcare efficiency, enhance patient outcomes, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in RT.
