"Exploring Lisfranc Injuries: From Surgical Choices to Patient Perspectives and Economic Implications"

The overall aim of this thesis is to identify the most appropriate treatment for Lisfranc lesions based on both patient-reported outcomes and cost-effectiveness. These studies were conducted to: Provide an overview of the current treatment of Lisfranc lesion based on the most complete and recent evidence available in the literature. Establish a high-quality randomised multicentre trial for the treatment of unstable Lisfranc lesions, taking into account patient-related outcome measures and cost-effectiveness. To provide physicians with an introduction to these economic evaluation studies, with a specific focus on (traumatic) foot fractures. To investigate the societal financial burden of Lisfranc injury and quality of life in the first 6 months after injury in patients with both stable and unstable Lisfranc fracture injuries in the Netherlands. To investigate what, from a patient perspective, improves quality of care and patient satisfaction before, during and after the treatment and recovery process of Lisfranc injuries. To investigate which treatment is most cost-effective for unstable Lisfranc lesions in adult patients from a societal perspective regarding quality of life.
