"ARDS: Een inzicht in modellen en behandelopties"
This thesis describes research in ARDS, a lung disease that has many causes and leads to oxygen deficiency in blood and tissues, for which IC admission and ventilation is often necessary.
To do this research in ARDS, laboratory animals were used, namely sheep.
This thesis describes the pathophysiology of ARDS, includes four different studies, which are described below, and concludes with possibilities for the future.
This thesis describes the effect of recruitment manoeuvers and Dexamethasone in sheep with ARDS, investigated in two different studies.
In addition, it describes which sheep model best matches ARDS in humans.
And a case report has been written about the treatment of mild- moderate ARDS with high flow nasal oxygen therapy.
In this way, this thesis has provided an insight into models and treatment options of ARDS.
