"Health Impact Assessment (HIA) as a tool to mobilise ‘Health in All Policies’"
The Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is a flexible process that identifies the impacts of a policy/plan/proposal on the health, well-being, and equity of a given population. This research provides evidence to support the HIA as a method to mobilize ‘Health in All Policies’, such in the cases of Brexit, lockdowns, and climate change, using the example of Wales.
This thesis contributes to expanding and enhancing the evidence base for HIA and fills the gaps in related peer-reviewed literature. The findings promote the acceptability of the HIA process as a useful and impactful tool and thus increase confidence for policy and decision-makers. Ideas and ways forward are suggested, and the ‘real life’ case studies support practitioners’ advocacy for HIAs.
