The training will teach participants how to stay up to date with the most recent developments surrounding these fast-paced technologies. Further, the training will dive into the legal implications of blockchain, distributed ledger technology and smart contracts, with a focus on the legal classification of these technologies and especially the data protection implications they bear.
After completing this training, participants should be able to explain the technical features of blockchain, distributed ledger technology and smart contracts. Participants will know of the various use cases for blockchain, distributed ledger technology and smart contracts and will be presented with their limitations – both from a technical and legal perspective – and will have an overview of the necessary means and channels to stay up to date regarding future developments. Participants should be able to situate and assess the key regulatory problems surrounding blockchain, distributed ledger technology and smart contracts, with a special focus on the data protection law implications. Combined, this will grant participants a broad perspective over this emerging field and will foster insights that will be valuable in a fast-paced professional environment.
