Courses & curriculum

View current courses

UCM has almost 200 courses, skills trainings, and projects to choose from. You get to pick the ones that interest you and match your future goals, so you can build a study path that’s totally your own. The UCM programme gives you the knowledge and experience you need to apply for the master’s degree you want next.

Concentration

Your concentration is the central part of your curriculum, allowing you to gain in-depth knowledge in your fields of interest. UCM offers three concentrations:

  • Social Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Sciences

In your first year, you explore different academic disciplines before choosing a concentration. Once you have picked a concentration, you will dive deeper into it with more advanced courses. You can focus on one subject (like psychology, economics, history, or biology) or mix themes or subjects.

Social Sciences
  • Business Administration
  • Conflict Studies
  • Economics
  • International Development Studies
  • International Law
  • International Relations
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Public Policy
  • Sociology
  • Statistics
Humanities
  • Arts and Literature
  • Cultural Studies
  • History
  • Media Studies
  • Philosophy
Sciences
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Cognitive Sciences and Neurosciences
  • Global Health
  • Information and Computer Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Sustainability and Climate Change

For example, your curriculum could include economics, law, and international relations, or science, psychology, and cultural studies. It is flexible, so you can shape your learning around what interests you most.

The academic core and general education

Everyone takes part in the “academic core.” This includes four key topics that give you important knowledge every student needs. You will learn about how scientific research works, the basics of political systems, scientific reasoning and its role in society, and key historical events from the past 75 years.

You will also choose two to four general education courses outside your concentration. These help you think from different perspectives and understand different academic approaches.
